Biography

Dr. Viraja Khatu is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Astrophysics and a Science Team member of the Cosmological Advanced Survey Telescope for Optical and ultraviolet Research (CASTOR) mission. She studies the densest objects in the Universe, supermassive black holes, which are millions to billions of times the mass of our Sun. With astronomical software tools, she analyzes data from telescopes in space and on Earth to understand the physical structure and growth of supermassive black holes. She also performs simulation-based research to design large surveys while optimizing them to maximize science returns from next-generation astronomical facilities.
