Institute for Earth and Space Exploration

Established in 2019, the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration is the leading organization for Earth and space exploration research and training in Canada. The mission of the Institute is to lead in interdisciplinary research and innovation in Earth and space exploration, and to strengthen and grow the Canadian Earth and space exploration communities through inspiring and training the next generation of scientists, engineers, social scientists and entrepreneurs.

Western Faculty of Science

Western Science ranks among Canada’s top ten Faculties of Science and is dedicated to advancing the scientific frontier in order to address societal challenges. They work in collaboration with members of the local, national, and international community to inform decisions which impact on issues of environment and sustainability, to build industrial capacity through, and to challenge existing boundaries by conceiving new materials and biomaterials.

Rotman Institute of Philosophy

The Rotman Institute of Philosophy fills a unique niche in the spectrum of Western’s research strengths by integrating core humanities practice into the development and application of science. Current faculty research projects explore topics ranging from frontier research in physics, deep problems in neuroscience, wicked problems in policy, the intersection of health policy & medical research, and unexpected consequences of innovation.
