Dr. Nadeem Ghafoor

Dr. Nadeem Ghafoor is the CEO of Avalon Space, a Toronto-based space company focused on services & infrastructure beyond earth orbit for the new space era. Dr. Ghafoor has a long history with Canada’s space exploration program, having spent more than 20+ years working across human & robotic missions for international & commercial Moon and Mars exploration. He has worked across the full spectrum of missions from the smallest-class commercial robotic platforms & payloads to medium & large-class national & international flagships. Dr. Ghafoor has held various management & executive positions across large & small space industry and works closely with both government & commercial exploration stakeholders. Dr. Ghafoor was VP of Space Exploration at Canadensys Aerospace for 7 years, and before that spent 9 years at MDA leading new Planetary Initiatives. Dr. Ghafoor is most excited by the untapped potential of modern space beyond earth orbit, and working with new sectors who are only just beginning to explore the impact, societal return and commercial opportunity available in new space era.
