Douglas Morrison

President & CEO, CEMI - Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation

Biography

Douglas Morrison has over 35 years of mining experience, operations engineering in deep underground metal mines, and consulting internationally on mine safety and productivity. His focus has always been on safety and innovation, and he recognizes that the current technology platforms for mine production and mine tailings management must be transformed if mining is to meet the supply demand for the Green Transition to a low-carbon economy and help create a Globally Sustainable Society™.

At CEMI, Doug is directing the development of the continuous, autonomous technologies that are essential for mines to dramatically improve their productive capacity at lower cost. CEMI has also supported the development of solutions to improve mine waste management practices by processing mine waste and eliminating the long-term storage of mine tailings. These kinds of technologies will help integrate mining industry processes into the natural resource sectors of agriculture and forestry and operate in harmony with indigenous communities for more sustainable and self-sustaining outcomes. CEMI’s MICA Network is seeking solution providers in every sector of the economy to help the mining industry become more productive, more profitable and more socially and environmentally progressive.
